Matterhouse operates at the intersection of spatial design studio and design firm that provides strategy, experience, and design-driven vision to our partners. OUR TEAM

Matterhouse Studio's senior management has over 10 years of experience working in professional design and directorial settings. This allows us to create spaces that are multi-purposed, have a high-impact, and are delivered promptly.

Ian L. Springer | Founder & Partner

Ian L. Springer leads Matterhouse's overall technical and strategic direction, evaluating functional specification, establishing partnerships, and managing administrative operations.

Ian L. Springer has more than 10 years of experience in Illustration, Installation Design, Graphic Design, and Marketing & Communications serving clients in the Education and Corporate Sectors. He has expertise in business management, operations, and creative arts. Mr. Springer has also served as a Director of Marketing and Communications in the K-12 setting, where he was responsible for curating spaces and marketing schools within the highly competitive DMV area. Mr. Springer is also the illustrator of three published children's books under Shout Mouse Press that circulate within D.C. Public School system curriculums. He holds a degree in Illustration from Maryland Institute College of Art.
